Executive summary

Published in the Green Journal, this study by the group of New York Proton Center compared the dosimetric quality between an PBS Bragg peak FLASH and conventional PBS plans in lung tumors. FLASH plans were created for 10 consecutive lung SBRT patients treated to 34 Gy/fraction using multifield optimization. This study reported that the Bragg peak plans were comparable plan quality to conventional PBS while achieving sufficient FLASH dose rate coverage for major OARs. The dosimetric quality was compared between Bragg peak FLASH and conventional plans based on RTOG0915 dose metrics.
